Keloid Removal

Service Description

Keloids are raised, overgrown scars that can develop after the healing of a skin injury, such as a wound, surgery, or even acne. Unlike typical scars, keloids extend beyond the original injury site and can be larger than the initial wound. The formation of keloids is attributed to an overproduction of collagen during the healing process. This excess collagen causes the scar tissue to extend beyond the boundaries of the original injury, resulting in a raised and often firm growth. Removing keloids can be challenging, and various approaches may be considered. Consult with our dermatologist to determine the most suitable and effective removal method based on the specific characteristics of the keloid. Treatment Option: 1) Intralesional injection Intralesional injection for keloid removal involves injecting medication directly into the keloid scar. The medication, typically a corticosteroid, works to reduce inflammation, inhibit collagen production, and break down scar tissue. Over time, the keloid scar becomes flatter, softer, and less noticeable. Multiple injections may be required, spaced several weeks apart, to achieve optimal results. This minimally invasive procedure is effective for reducing the size and symptoms of keloid scars, such as itching and pain, with minimal risk of scarring or other complications.
